Docking terms 2026

These general docking terms apply to all the services of Varvilahti Oy, below "the yard", unless another agreement is made in writing.

Insurance

The boat must be insured for the full time of the docking. The insurance must cover docking damage.

Receipt of the boat

The yard has received a boat that the customer delivers to the yard area when the yard starts work on it.

Handover of the boat

The customer has received the boat when it is launched. After the launch, the mooring of the boat and other property are the responsibility of the customer.

Responsibility of the yard

The responsibility of the yard for the docking ends when the boat is launched. The yard is not responsible for leaks in boats, for the bilge pumps or submersible pumps of a leaking boat, or for the electricity in the yard area.

Moves from the pier to the lift

The yard is not responsible for damage during the move of the boat between the pier and the lifting place, when the cause is, for example, a sudden failure of the controls or the engine.

Booking of lifts and launches

The customer must agree on a lift or a launch at least one week before the requested time. With a shorter notice, the yard does not have to do the lift or the launch. The yard can also do the lift or the launch before the agreed time if the boat is ready.

Payments

The customer pays for the docking of the boat and the related work as follows:

  • the docking fee is paid against an invoice after the lift,
  • all the agreed additional work and installations are invoiced at the latest when the work is complete,
  • the yard charges a winter lift supplement of 30% for lifts from 15 November,
  • the yard also has the right to keep the boat until the customer has paid in full for the winter storage or for the work done during it.
Sale of the boat during winter storage

If the boat is sold during the winter storage, the customer is responsible for the docking fees until the new owner has agreed separately with the yard to be responsible for the boat and the docking fees.

Water and electricity

The customer has the right to use water and electricity for normal work during the docking. The use of electricity for heating needs a separate agreement. All use other than the charging of batteries must be under the supervision of the customer.

Cleanliness of the storage place

After the rental period, the customer must leave the winter storage place empty and clean, except for the boat stand, the boat supports and the covers. The yard can invoice the customer for the cleaning of the place if the customer did not clean it.

Outside professionals

An outside professional must not do repair, restoration or installation work in the yard area without a separate agreement with Varvilahti Oy. This includes all persons who get payment for the work, and also training work.
